The APMEN- Mohanlal Sukhadia University 3rd International Malaria Vector Surveillance for Elimination Course (3rd-15th July, 2022)

Vector control is the single most effective intervention for achieving a reduction in malaria transmission. Progress on the control of vector-borne diseases is at great risk and now, more than ever, accurate information and education are needed to ensure efficient vector control. The APMEN-Mohanlal Sukhadia University 3rd International Malaria Vector Surveillance for Elimination Course has been designed to reduce capacity gaps that often occur in vector control programs and aims to achieve optimized malaria elimination strategies for Southeast Asian countries. This innovative and exciting training course will allow the selected participants from Southeast Asian countries to explore and manage malaria vectors through traditional and modern vector control practices and strategies. Such vector control must be underpinned by a thorough understanding of which vector species are present in a particular area, the relative abundance of the various species, breeding site preference, feeding and resting behavior, insecticide susceptibility, data management, data interpretation, all of this then integrated into an effective vector control plan. Each of these elements requires knowledge and skills for effective data sourcing, processing and application, without which vector control programs would be wasteful and misdirected, or even completely ineffective. The training network would help to connect new knowledge that would further advance malaria elimination programme globally.
