Department Profile

The Department of Microbiology initiated Post-Graduate Programme in Microbiology in 2010. The department initially started functioning from the Department of Zoology, University College of Science (old campus of university), but it is now located in Vigyan Bhawan Block B with Biotechnology (new campus of the University). The department started Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2018 with research areas namely Applied Microbiology, Food quality & safety etc. The objective of the Department is to impart quality education in the field of microbiology and to update student’s knowledge with the advanced techniques along with the development of their scientific aptitude. The department is currently having research projects funded by the UGC, RUSA etc. The alumni of the department are working in various sectors viz. pharma, medical (pathology & COVID-19 labs), food etc.
