Two Weeks Hands on Training Programme on Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship in Public Health

The Two weeks training programme started under the supervision of Prof. Arti Prasad, Head of the Department, Department of Zoology and Coordinator RUSA 2.0 funded Career Hub completed following valedictory program. The training program was inaugurated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Amerika Singh. The trainees were told about the outline of the training program and the techniques to be taught during the training program and their usefulness. Dr. R S Sharma (vector-borne disease specialist of the World Health Organization and advisor of the World Health Organization) delivered a lecture about the vectors, pathogens, their identification and breeding sites of all vector-borne diseases occurring in the country. Along with this, Dr. Sharma talked about the eradication of malaria from India by the year 2030 and difficulties faced in it. Dr. Sharma drew special attention to the current spread of dengue and zika diseases. In the second session of the training, experimentally classify the major vectors and explain their effects on human health. In the same session, Dr. P T Joshi (former state entomologist of Gujarat state) threw light on the techniques used for vector borne disease control and the contribution of society in this. Dr. Joshi delivered his lectures on Scrub Typhus, CCHF and Plague and told about the method of survey of disease vectors and gave a lecture on the identification of the immature and adult stage of the vectors and the method of their survey. Trainees also get lecture about the data to be collected during the survey and the method of their collection and its technical nuances.
